about me

Megan Kiyoko Wray (she/her) is a queer, mixed-race Japanese-Canadian yonsei poet, writer, and creative human based on Treaty 1 Territory. Her work explores concepts of identity, place, and belonging with particular interest in intergenerational emotion, memory, and understanding. Art, to her, is an access point to better understanding ourselves and the broader world around us. This principle guides her artistic practice (and life at large).

Megan’s poetry has been shared through exhibits, spoken-word performances, and various literary publications, including Carnation, Feels, Reverie, and more.

She is also a freelance writer specializing in the sex and relationships, wellness, and lifestyle niches. Her work has been featured in Bond Touch’s The Other Half, The Spill, Blood + Milk, and Venus Envy, among others.

Beyond her writing practice, Megan manages Willow Press, a queer-owned, community-oriented independent bookstore in Winnipeg focused on highlighting underrepresented voices. She recently became a co-facilitator of Mata Ashita, a virtual intergenerational Japanese Canadian writing group that she’s found community in 2020.

Megan loves cooking delicious vegan food, picking up new crafty hobbies, and creating deep connections with those around her.
